NAPOLI: STATION ON THE FIRST RAILWAY LINE NAPOLI PORTICI (1839)
PREMISE
As part of a project of restoration and functional recuperation of the insula containing the remains of the old Neapolitan terminus of the Napoli-Portici Railway and adjacent areas (amounting to 8000 square metres), the Comune di Napoli appointed CIBeC to provide technical, scientific and historical consultancy

OBJECTIVES
Restoration, reconstruction and social utilization of the whole structure of the station
PHASES
- Carrying out of all necessary inspections to identify the status quo
- Carrying out of architectonic, photographic, photogrammetric surveys and laboratory tests
- Programming and carrying out of geotechnical and structural surveys to identify what has to be demo- lished, integrated and/or rebuilt
- Compilation of an overall report containing all findings from the analysis of documentation, study of the status quo and laboratory tests, indicating the general criteria for safeguarding public safety and the requisites of environmental conservation
- Elaboration of detailed reports indicating specific technical data to be included in the project
- Final overall report summarising the results obtained and criteria formulated
The model is on display in the Historical Room of the Faculty of Engineering located in Piazzale Tecchio, Naples.
