PREMISE

As part of prefeasibility studies, the Soprintendenza appointed CIBeC to study the geotechnical-structural feasibility of the excavation of Villa dei Papiri

OBJECTIVES

• Evaluation of the geotechnical-structural feasibility of the excavation of Villa dei Papiri for each of the two hypotheses put forward in the urbanistic feasibility study: open-mine excavation or tunnelling
• Overall economic evaluation for each of the two excavation methods

PHASES

• Analysis of geological, geotechnical, hydraulic, structural data etc. currently available in bibliography or provided by the Soprintendenza
• Definition of the excavation form and volumes, any necessary back-up works, proposed methods of excavation and techniques for each of the two hypotheses
• Overall metric computations for excavations and works in the case of each of the two hypotheses
• Final report
