DEFINITION OF THE INDICATORS OF AN ARCHAEOLOGICAL RUIN IN TERMS OF PREVENTION AND MAINTENANCE IN A SEISMIC AREA
PREMISE
The Soprintendenza Generale stipulated a convention with CIBeC to define indicators of an archaeological ruin in terms of prevention and maintenance in a seismic area, with particular reference to the archaeologi- cal areas of Campania

OBJECTIVES
Indicate methodological and operative proposals for defining models of intervention for the mitigation and/ or elimination of seismic risk in ancient architecture in the ruined state
PHASES
- Definition of ruin and classification in two categories
- Details of each category covering many types of vulnerability
- Revision of the risk charter
- Identification and characterization of indicators of vulnerability for the first category
- Quantification of some of the principal indicators of vulnerability for the first category and discussion concerning the second
- Examination of projects for monuments on the Acropolis in Athens: the Parthenon
- Differences and affinities with problems of architecture in Magna Grecia: the case of Paestum PERIOD: July 1994 – December 1995
