NAPLES – GASPARINI LIBRARY, PRESENTATION OF THE DIGITAL REPERTOIRE OF THE HISTORICAL LIBRARY OF THE FACULTY OF ENGINEERING

CIBeC supported the multi-year initiative of prof. Giulio Fabricatore (already director of the Center for two terms) for the constitution of an archive of approx four thousand documents (books and maps) in high or very high digital format resolution: this digital repertoire constitutes the digital copy of the oldest and most significant treatises belonging to the Historical Library of the Engineering School. The digital archive is intended to allow free and profitable consultation of the texts kept in the “historical” section of the “F. Gasparini” Library, thus ensuring the best conservation and respect for the originals. To spread the knowledge of this digital heritage, it was decided to use a good-sized screen (50-55 inches) (placed at the entrance of the library) on which significant images of the available digital heritage are scrolled: title pages of famous treatises and significant pages extracted from the most important works.
